課程概述

The class consisits of two parts: the primary part of reading covers a wide range of socially topical and culturally relevant topics from journalism to literature (poetry, drama, and fiction); while the language training section concerns vocabulary building, grammar drills, and composition exercises. There will also be a film screening and a chronological survey of pop music. The class is conducted mainly in English. 

課程目標
 The Freshman English course is designed to familiarize the students with a braod spectrum of writnig styles and subjects in English so as to enhance their understanding of the language and the culture expressed in English, and to sharpen their skill in applying English in reading, writing, and to a lesser extent, speaking and listening

 Regulations
1. 15-minute late considered a tardiness
2. three times tardy makes an absence
3. three absences makes attendance nil
4. absolutely no cell phone in class
5. cell phone ring in exam considered cheating
6. no make-up exam, only one extra-credit assignment allowed
